Love beer but can’t have gluten? Enjoy this great big list of dedicated gluten-free breweries in the U.S. The list gets bigger and bigger every year, and I update it as soon as I learn of a new brewery.
When you’re diagnosed with celiac disease or gluten intolerance, giving up gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye, and barley, can feel like a devastating blow.
Unfortunately, you’ll quickly learn that beer is made from fermented malted barley and other non-gluten-free grains. This means beer is off-limits when you can’t eat gluten. (Distilled alcohol made from gluten grains is okay to consume on a gluten-free diet, but fermented alcohol is not.)
25+ Dedicated Gluten-Free Beer Brands
If you miss beer, the good news is that there is a growing number of dedicated gluten-free breweries in the U.S., and they’re brewing craft beer from gluten-free grains such as rice, corn, millet, and buckwheat.
Below is a growing list of 25+ U.S.-based gluten-free breweries that you can try if you’re lucky to live near one (like me). If you don’t live near one, I think a road trip is in your future!
Many of these beers are also available in retail stores. Visit each brewery’s website to find out where you can buy them, especially if you don’t live near a brewery location.
Remember, this list includes only dedicated gluten-free breweries; while there are breweries making gluten-free beer, these beers are exclusively made with gluten-free grains in dedicated gluten-free facilities.
Also, please note that gluten-removed beers are not safe for someone on a gluten-free diet to consume. Don’t be tempted. It’s just not worth it. Read more about why in this article.

Imported Gluten-Free Beer
Green’s Gluten-Free Beer was the first gluten-free beer in the United Kingdom that was exclusively made from gluten-free ingredients, including millet, sorghum, buckwheat, and rice.
It’s brewed at the De Proef brewery in Belgium and imported to the US by Merchant du Vin, which is based in Tacoma, Washington. Merchant du Vin distributes Green’s beer nationwide.
Green’s sent me its line-up of beers to sample, including its Lager, Dubbel Ale, India Pale Ale, Amber Ale, and Triel Ale. I found the beers refreshing and authentic, but I’m far from a beer connoisseur, so I can’t speak to all the fine details. The bottom line is that if you miss beer, you’re going to be happy with Green’s.
Other Dedicated GF Breweries?
If you know of another dedicated gluten-free brewery that I missed, please send me a note or leave me a comment.
