Gluten-Free Meal Kits by Green Chef: Reviewed by a Nutritional Professional with Celiac Disease

This post about gluten-free meal kits by Green Chef contains affiliate links. All opinions are my own.

Every day I get feedback from all of you telling me your biggest challenges. One of those challenges that I hear time and time again is that it’s hard to make a gluten-free meal every night for your family. It takes too long to shop for ingredients, you’re short on ideas, and it’s expensive. I get it.

That’s why I’m so excited to share a meal kit service that is tailor-made for us gluten-free eaters. It’s a meal kit service called Green Chef.

You purchase the gluten-free (or paleo or keto, whatever your pleasure) meal kit box at GreenChef.com, and a box of gluten-free meals arrives on your doorstep within days. It includes all the ingredients you need to make a restaurant-style meal at home in typically less than 30 minutes. Sounds too good to be true, right?

Who Needs Green Chef?

Meal kit services are all the rage these days, but many of us gluten-free eaters have been left in the dust. I have a feeling you’ve never even tried a meal kit in the box because there wasn’t one offering a safe, certified gluten-free option before.

But now there is … and if you’re intrigued, but are not sure this meal kit thing is for you, let me give you a little reassurance. I think Green Chef is perfect if you’re:

Time-Crunched:  These meals take no more than 30 minutes to make, and every ingredient you need to make them is in the box. You can skip the grocery store this week (I did!).

Cooking-Challenged: Before I went gluten-free, I barely knew how to cook. I’ve taught myself a lot over the years out of necessity.  I totally get it. If you’re not used to cooking, having to suddenly make a healthy, gluten-free meal for your family each and every night can feel like such a chore. Green Chef provides step-by-step instructions to help you cook gourmet meals in minutes. You’ll feel like a rock star chef in no time!

Craving Variety:  I admit that even I get stuck in a rut. I end up making the same meals over and over again. Tacos, spaghetti and meat sauce, and baked salmon are in continuous rotation around here. With Green Chef, you get a box filled with different meals that will tantalize your palate with new flavors each night and each week. Variety is the spice of life, after all.

This is me in the kitchen with Green Chef. I just finished chopping all those green and delicious vegetables to go along with the turmeric-spiced chicken feast I’m making.

My Green Chef Experience

I had a wonderful experience with my Green Chef meal kit. The week I ordered it, I received the following meals in my box:

  • Sesame-Crusted Alaskan Cod
  • Turmeric-Spiced Chicken
  • Caribbean Steak Rice Bowls

All of these items sounded so good to me – and they were good. Quite good indeed!

I unloaded all the items from the Green Chef box and put them in my fridge. Each dish was contained in its own brown baggie. The only parts of the meal that weren’t in the brown bags were the large vegetables (kale and Swiss chard) and the meats, which were sitting directly on the ice.

When I was ready to make the Turmeric-Spiced Chicken, I took out all the ingredients, read the step-by-step instructions, and began working away in the kitchen.

Preparing Green Chef Ingredients

I loved seeing the color of all the wonderful vegetables and spices in this dish. Incredible!

I had never cooked with Swiss chard before and now I know that I love it. I am going to add it to my stir-frys and other dishes from now on.

My final creation was this delicious bowl of vegetables topped with spicy turmeric chicken. It was so delicious – truly a gourmet meal.

Some Feedback for Green Chef

Overall, I had an extremely positive experience with Green Chef. I knew everything would be organic and certified gluten-free – so I felt GREAT about eating all the foods.

The foods were fresh, tasty and well seasoned, and beyond tasty!  Well done, Green Chef.

I realize that for Green Chef to be a viable business, customization might be a bit challenging. However, I am really nervous about getting my order next week as I see pork and shrimp are on the menu. I don’t eat either of those things. I hope that Green Chef will allow its customers some customization opportunities in the future. I’d love to be able to select the three meals I want for the week out of a selection of six (something like that).

I also would have loved a bit more food. I could have seriously eaten the entire vegetable portion of the dish myself. I would have loved more veggies to really make me feel full (I’m okay with less protein, but load up on ’em veggies, please).

Wanna Try Green Chef?

So now you know how Green Chef works, and you want to try it? I have a feeling you’ll be hooked in no time.

Get ready to spend less time shopping for groceries, less time dreaming up meal plans, less time cooking in the kitchen, and instead, spend more time eating a variety of flavorful meals delivered straight to your doorstep.

And it’s all certified gluten-free, baby!  Get $40 off your first box when you sign up today at Green Chef!
