Sometimes you need a little comfort food to start your day. This chocolate oatmeal recipe is loaded it with healthy fats, fiber and that delicious chocolate flavor you crave.
Add milk to pot and bring mixture to a gentle boil. Add oats, flaxseed meal, cocoa powder, maple syrup and pinch of salt to milk and stir all ingredients together.
Reduce heat to low and bring mixture to a low simmer (gentle rolling boil). Cover and let mixture cook for 5 minutes.
Remove mixture from heat, stir, and allow mixture to rest for 2 minutes.
Add oatmeal to a bowl and top with toppings of choice or enjoy as is.

Oats: Only use oats that are labeled "gluten free" or "certified gluten free." See notes in blog post.Milk: You can use any milk or dairy-free milk of choice.
