I recently switched all my pots and pans to All-Clad Stainless Steel (please note this post contains affiliate links where you can find these same healthy pots). It’s expensive, I’m not going to lie, but I was tired of using the Teflon coated pots I got for my wedding and mindlessly used for 15 years. Now that I’m on a strict gluten free diet – and I eat at home a lot! – it was time to invest in my health and get some healthy cookware I could enjoy time and time again.
Now that I’m in a better place health-wise and my cooking skills have vastly improved, I am overdue for high-end stainless steel pots and pans. If I’m going to change my pots and pans, I knew I needed to do it right. That’s why I bought the 10 piece All Clad set. I cannot tell you how excited I am about this purchase. I’m giddy just looking at them. See how beautifully they fit in my pots and pans drawer – I’m in heaven!
On top of loving the way they look, I just LOVE using these pots. They are easy to use and cook my food without fuss. Plus, I’m no longer embarrassed by the Teflon coated crap I was using; I’m a proud All Clad Stainless Steel convert!
If you, too, are looking to health-up your cookware, consider All Clad Stainless Steel as well. Here is how I came to decide and settle on All Clad. I hope my journey will inspire you to change your cookware for the better too!
(1) Health: My first step in deciding what cookware to buy was health. I wanted something I could feel good about using and that wouldn’t leach chemicals into my food. I wanted pots that were PFOA-free (you can familiarize yourself with PFOA on the American Cancer Society’s website. Pots coated with this materials can make people sick and is linked to some cancers). Another great source of PFOA information is “Exposing the Dangers of Non-stick Cookware” – I am not an expert but I felt these reports were too important to ignore. My philosophy is that I want to heal my gut, and I can’t heal it when I cook with dangerous, cancer-causing materials.
As you research your options, you’ll probably find out about things like Greenpan brand pots and pans. They are ceramic and coated with Thermolon, a non-stick and PFOA-free material. I just felt the reviews were mixed and I wasn’t certain I wanted to risk it. I also saw mixed reviews on ceramic coated pots using CeraForce ceramic finish. While they are PFOA-free, the reviews say they scratch easily and are not even non-stick after a few uses, plus you could not cook on high heat at all – ever! Not for me.
Time and time again I kept going back to the All Clad Stainless Steel pots. They have historically received amazing reviews, and people say they have these pots forever and love them! I also learned that they don’t scratch easily and even if they do, they don’t leach chemicals like Teflon-coated pots do. They cost a little more than the other pots and pans on the market, but I felt the investment was well worth it – I’m in my kitchen a lot. I love making my own food (this way I know it’s free of gluten) and I’ve really love to cook and experiment in the kitchen.
(2) Functionality: My second concern in finding new pots and pans was functionality. I was spoiled by the ease of use non-stick pans provided, so I didn’t want something that would be difficult to use. I read online reviews and found that the All Clad Stainless Steel pots had very little “sticking” problems – so I felt I couldn’t go wrong. I just use a little butter or oil and I’ve been able to make pancakes and eggs without sticking. I’ve had no problems at all!
(3) Weight: Third, I was concerned about weight. I didn’t want a really heavy pot. That means the Le Creuset, while an extraordinary pan/set, was out. The cast iron and ceramic pieces are so heavy and SO EXPENSIVE – I just couldn’t pull the trigger on these knowing my own strength and my own budget!
The Healthy Pot Verdict: I knew I couldn’t go wrong with the 10-piece All Clad Stainless Steel set. I did it. They are now a part of my home and kitchen. You might think I’m crazy, but every time I use them I feel giddy. I feel so proud that I didn’t go the cheap route and that I made an investment that will pay off time and time again.
