We make choices each and every day that affect not only our individual health, but also the health of our planet. The world has become a corporate dumping ground where companies try to source cheap ingredients as quickly as possible no matter how much of the earth they destroy along the way or how many people can’t even earn a living wage in exchange for their labor. It’s beyond disturbing.
This is why it’s good to know that there are still companies these days that care like prAna. prAna works hard to make its products in a sustainable way. When the bulk of the apparel industry is fraught with companies trying to crank out “fast fashion,” prAna takes things slowly, thoughtfully and deliberately by taking into consideration where materials come from and how they are sourced. If more companies were like prAna and ruled with their conscience, the world would be a better place.
When I heard prAna was looking for bloggers to participate in its Where Do You prAna campaign, I raised my hand high and said, “Pick me, pick me.” I love that prAna is a company that cares about the planet, and I love so many of the beautiful clothes prAna makes too!
As part of the Where Do You prAna campaign, I had the fun opportunity to shop at prAna.com and pick a couple of items to try on for size (and keep – thank you prAna). I picked the Deco Crop pant (I couldn’t resist the charming decorative detail on the leg) and the warm and cozy Silverspring pullover. Please note this is a sponsored post. Please read my disclosures for details on my policy for working with sponsors.
Here’s How I prAna
Every morning, I walk my dog, Buddy, before the kids wake up. I’m out of bed at 5:52 am and I’m out the door by 6:00 am. I love the fresh morning air and getting my exercise over and done with. I also enjoy listening to health and business podcasts while I walk (I’m a podcast junky). I literally wake up thinking about what I’m going to listen to that morning.
I simply slip on my yoga pants (this morning I wore my new prAna Deco Crop pants), a t-shirt and a sweatshirt and I’m out the door. One of the perks of living in Colorado is that I get to enjoy fresh mountain air every single day! It feels wonderful on my skin and I love the smell of morning. In Denver, the summer mornings are usually in the cool 50s, so I usually start my walks with a pullover, but then I shed it midway through my walk. (The winters are another story – I’ll be bundled up head to toe!)
Not only am I taking time for self care every morning – feeding my body with good exercise, my lungs with fresh air and my mind with new ideas (remember those podcasts?) – but also I’m showing love and compassion for my dog. Buddy loves being outdoors and he needs exercise each day too. We motivate each other and that’s a good thing. Buddy is a big part of why I’m healthy.
After my walk (and after I shuffle the kids off to school), it’s time for me to check in for the day. I love sitting on my deck with my dog and checking my email and social media pages. I surprisingly get a lot done first thing in the morning… as my walk has invigorated me to move forward with the day.
Because I get so immersed in my work, I often forget to shower or change until later in the day (I stink a little, but only Buddy is here to smell me and he doesn’t mind). I find myself tending to laundry, cooking in my kitchen, or watering the garden while still in my workout clothes!
On a side note, my garden has been bountiful this year. I’ve had almost daily zucchinis and tomatoes and I can see a lot of eggplants and pickling cukes on the way too! Like my dog, the garden needs to be tended to every day. I enjoy watering and inspecting the garden daily so I can literally see, first-hand, the fruits of my labor. My kids even tried zucchini this year since we grew it from the ground up – wow! (Now how do I get them to eat it again? Hmmm.)
As you can see, I’m a busy working mom, so I need clothes that easily transition from my brisk morning walk with my dog to getting my work done and handling household chores with ease. I wish I could stay in my prAna clothes all day, but at some point in the day, I do find my way into a much-needed shower.
If you want to be a conscious (and stylish) consumer like me, I highly recommend you add some prAna yoga pants and clothing to your wardrobe… and guess what? I can help you do just that.
prAna gave me a 15% off coupon (good for 15% off your ENTIRE purchase at prAna.com) to share with all of you. Visit the prAna website, add some cute clothes to your cart, and then use my coupon code, MHMJF15, at checkout. The coupon is valid through 10/5/17.
