Disclosure: prAna and Mile High Mamas (#milehighprAna) invited me to join this campaign and provided me with product samples. All opinions are my own. Please continue reading, as I have a special discount code for you below!!
As a gluten-free and nutrition blogger, I obviously talk a lot about the gluten-free lifestyle and living a healthy life. That’s why when prAna and Mile High Mamas invited me to join their campaign to spread the word about prAna’s activewear clothing, I jumped at the opportunity to do so. While it’s a bit off-topic in the foodie world, it’s completely on topic with my belief that a gluten-free lifestyle is a healthy lifestyle. You should feel good about the food you put in your body (gluten-free, organic, free-range, etc.) and you should feel good about the clothes you wear too (organic, free-trade, sustainable, etc.)
Prana, by definition, is the life force or energy that surrounds the universe. Prana enters our body through our breath and permeates every cell in our body. This aptly named company breaths life into the athleisure and outdoor wear industry, offering a beautiful array of clothes that you can use to workout, enjoy the great outdoors, and/or simply lounge around the house.
It’s easy to see prAna’s dedication to making this world a better place. The company uses hemp, organic cotton, recycled wool and polyester, and uses responsibly source materials and free-trade labor. I have no qualms about putting my stamp of approval on a company with a conscience.
As part of the campaign, I was given the opportunity to choose and keep two pieces of prAna clothing. I’m not the kind of person that lacks decision-making skills, but man, this was such a hard choice for me. Everything looked so comfortable and beautiful.
After an hour of hemming and hawing, I eventually chose two pieces I know I’ll get good use out of. The pieces don’t go together, per se, but I’ll enjoy matching them with other items in my closet.
The first piece is the Devan Henley ($75) made from an organic cotton jersey blend. This shirt is so soft and cozy – perfect for those cold snowy days where I’m holed up at home. It pairs beautifully with black leggings or skinny jeans. I usually wear a medium top to accommodate my large chest, but the reviews told me that it fits large, so I sized down to a small. The small fits me perfectly, albeit a bit shorter than I would have wanted. I simply put a white tank under the shirt giving it a beautiful layering effect and extra warmth. The attached hoodie gives it that extra special comfort touch. This is definitely a rainy day staple!
The other piece I chose was the Mantra Pant ($75). I wanted to try something made from hemp because I don’t know that I’ve ever worn something made from hemp before! Hemp is thermo-conductive, so it feels cools against your skin, and it is naturally anti-microbial too. It’s also sustainable as it doesn’t require chemical pesticides or fertilizers to grow. You can learn more about why prAna uses hemp in this video.
I ordered the lightweight pants in pink – a bit out of my comfort zone as I typically wear black pants – but they are super cute and bright and of course my nine-year-old daughter loved my color choice! I definitely can see myself lounging around the house in these pants topped with a white t-shirt. So cute! I will say that hemp isn’t as soft as cotton, but these pants are a hemp-organic cotton blend, so they aren’t stiff either. They feel more like a thicker linen fabric, although they are wrinkle-resistant unlike linen. Please note that these pants run long. The medium pant is several inches too long for my 5′ 5″ frame. Plan to hem them if you order these pants. Once you get the fit right, you’ll be lounging in them in no time!
