Gluten-Free BBQ Tofu Bowl

Looking to add more plant-based proteins to your diet? Tofu is a worthy meat substitute and tastes great too! This BBQ Tofu Bowl recipe will be a winner winner tofu dinner in your house! Even the kids will love it.

1 package of organic firm tofu

1/2 bottle of organic, gluten-free BBQ sauce (about 2 cups)

1 Tbsp avocado oil

1 large onion, chopped

4 corn on the cobs, cooked and remove corn from cob

2 cups of brown rice, cooked


Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Remove tofu from package. Drain liquid and place tofu on paper towels. Pat the tofu block dry using gentle pressure. You want your tofu as dry as possible.

While tofu is drying, coat a large casserole dish with BBQ sauce. Use just enough BBQ sauce to cover the dish with a small layer of sauce. Set aside.

Cut tofu into 1-inch cubes, then place cubes into BBQ sauce in the dish.

Drizzle remaining BBQ sauce on the tofu to coat it evenly. Use your hands to ensure tofu pieces are coated in sauce. Allow tofu to marinade in BBQ sauce for about 10 minutes.

Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper. Place tofu cubes in a single layer on the parchment paper and then place in the oven.

Bake tofu pieces for 25-30 minutes until cooked through. You want the pieces to be firm but not burned.

While tofu is cooking, heat a saucepan with oil and then add chopped onion.

Saute onion for 5-10 minutes until cooked through and slightly browned in spots.

To assemble your BBQ tofu bowl, place cooked brown rice on the bottom of the bowl, then place tofu pieces, sauteed onion and corn on top of the rice.

For additional flavor, drizzle BBQ tofu bowl with BBQ sauce (optional).
