2017 is a year that promises a lot of exciting change. I’m diving head first into health and nutrition consulting and launching my online course, Fix Your Gluten Free Diet to Reclaim Your Life (coming soon!). Oh, and 2017 is also the year I’ll turn 40. So many milestones on the horizon! I’m looking forward to everything the New Year has to offer.
So when Sprouts Farmers Markets asked me to participate in its New Year, New Look campaign, I figured there’s no time like the present to get a fresh new look. And Sprouts has a ton of gluten-free makeup to choose from, so it’s the perfect place to scout up some new gluten-free makeup products! In full disclosure, Sprouts compensated me for this post and provided me with the products I feature below.
In celebration of Sprout’s quarterly Vitamin Extravaganza (January 4-11, 2017), we’re putting the spotlight on some of the awesome all natural, gluten-free makeup products you can find at Sprouts.
If you’re a Sprouts shopper like me, you know that the BEST time to stock up on all your vitamins, supplements, bath and body products and natural skin care and gluten-free makeup is during Vitamin Extravaganza because everything in the “vitamins” section, including makeup, is 25% off!! Plus, if you spend $100 in the “vitamins” section, you’ll get an extra 10 percent off. So stock up, seriously stock up!

OK, so this year I have two goals when it comes to my look. I want to brighten my skin and make it look more youthful, and I want to top off my look with a signature lipstick!
My lips have always had a nice pinkish tint to them so I’ve never felt the need to color them. Plus, I’m a lip balm addict, so I never wear lipstick. But I think lipstick will be the perfect way to change-up my look and ready myself for my 40s. Don’t you?
Of course with lipstick, you MUST only use gluten-free makeup brands. You obviously don’t eat lipstick, but you to ingest it when it’s on your lips.
One brand I’ve been dying to try since I featured Kristina of Ms. Modify on my blog (who swears by the brand) is Gabriel Cosmetics. Sprouts carries a ton of Gabriel Cosmetics, which offers a full line of certified gluten-free makeup that is also vegan and cruelty-free. Gabriel is a true pioneer in the natural beauty space and I’m hopeful more people will turn to this brand vs. the chemical-laden brands found at the average drugstore.
The display of cosmetics by Gabriel at Sprouts is beautiful and impressive. I had a hard time narrowing my choice down to one lipstick, but I wanted to try one before I committed to buying others.
I settled in on the Copper Glaze gluten-free lipstick – it has a beautiful shimmer to it and matched my lip color nicely as to not shock people with bright painted lips! I love how smoothly the lipstick applied to my lips, and it didn’t have any odor or bad taste, which really turns me off. My lips were suddenly shiny, a little sparkly, very moisturized, and oh-so beautiful! Why hadn’t I wanted to wear lipstick before? Oh yes, 2017 is going to be a new look for this lady!
(I wore my new Gabriel gluten-free lipstick in my latest photoshoot – look at those lips!)
My daughter came with me that day and stopped me cold when she spotted the Burt’s Bee lip care section at Sprouts. I love Burt’s Bees lip balms. They really do make my lips feel moisturized and I might even be a little addicted to the stuff.
My daughter spotted the shimmering lip glosses wanted one so badly… how could I say “no” to my nine-year old daughter who is just starting to enjoy a little makeup here and there. Of course she could have one! She picked out this a bright pink lip gloss and has been wearing it every day since!
As a fan of the brand myself, I picked out one of Burt’s Bees 100% all natural lipsticks in Fuchsia Flood. The color really stands out on my lips but I feel it’s perfect for days where I desired a little more punch of color. True to form, Burt’s Bees lipsticks are super moisturizing, just like the lip balms!
Before you go out and buy anything Burt’s Bees, you must know that the products are not certified gluten-free. I checked the ingredient list and didn’t see anything worrisome, although there may be a risk of cross contamination. I’ve used Burt’s Bees products for a long time without a reaction, so I personally feel okay using them, but do so at your own risk. (Read Burt’s Bees statement on gluten. I do not recommend Burt’s Bees nor state that they are certified gluten-free. Buyer beware!).
And finally, my new look in the new year is topped off by adding a little brightness to my skin. Turning 40 isn’t easy – I’ve definitely noticed more fine lines and less elasticity in my skin. I’ve been drinking my green juices and bone broths to combat aging from the inside out, but I believe we should treat the outer skin as well to keep our skin looking its best inside out.
I noticed a brand at Sprouts that I hadn’t heard of before, Pacifica, and decided to give it a try. All Pacifica products are gluten-free, 100% vegan, and cruelty-free too. I LOVE that Sprouts does all the hard work for me by sourcing these natural, healthy gluten-free makeup brands!
I decided to try the Dreamy Cover bare-faced serum foundation with SPF 20 and the Dreamlit under eye brightener.
In my haste, I grabbed the wrong shade of Dreamy Cover, but I didn’t realize it until I put some on my face. It was way too dark for my light complexion – so it’s going back to Sprouts. However, when I put it on, it was so unbelievably smooth and moisturizing. I am definitely using this – just need to get the fair/light shade on my next trip.
I also was impressed with the Dreamlit under eye brightener. It’s tinted pink, which definitely gave my skin an instant wakeup. I needed to allow the product to dry after application and then blend it again. The first round settled into the fine lines under my eyes. Once you get the application right, it really does brighten up your entire look – wow!
So there you have it. My new look in the New Year offers up brighter, more nourished skin and a pop of lip color to say, yes, I’m going to look good turning 40 this year!
