On Saturday I hosted another Denver Blogger’s Club meetup – and our generous sponsor was Modern Market (previously known as Modmarket). In full disclosure, I’ve had a crush on Modern Market for a long time. Last year, I helped do some PR for the restaurant when it first opened in Dallas. But I don’t whisper sweet nothings about Modern Market because I used to work with them, I do it because I sincerely love this company.
For one, so many items on the Modern Market menu are naturally gluten-free. The soups and salads require no substitutions to be gluten-free, nor do the salad dressings. I ate this beautiful Farmer’s Salad (see below) as my lunch – I couldn’t finish it because it was so big! This salad, as well as many other Modern Modern dishes, comes with in-season fruit. Last weekend I enjoyed it with strawberries, but in the past I’ve enjoyed it with grapes. How cool is it that Modern Market’s menu changes from season-to-season to accommodate the freshest, most in-season fruits?!?!
I also love Modern Market because I can order most sandwiches with gluten-free bread, and pizzas with a delicious, homemade gluten-free crust. It’s an easy swap. I just recommend that you communicate to the staff that you want the pizza cooked on top of a piece of foil so it doesn’t touch the same spots as the regular pizza touched.
Additionally, I just think the food tastes so good at Modern Market. Everything is made from scratch with a lot of thought and detail. Beth Hardy, the marketing director, says that the cooks are taught how to cook, not just follow recipes, and that they use only antibiotic-, hormone-free meats and locally sourced products as much as possible. If only every restaurant took this much care in sourcing its ingredients and preparing its dishes, we’d have a population eating clean, real and farm-fresh food.
During the Denver Blogger’s Club, yours truly spoke on how bloggers can work with brands to secure sponsorships. I put on my PR agency hat to share how brands find, select and work with bloggers.
Thank you very much to Beth and the entire Modern Market crew for making our event a success. Our bellies were full of farm-fresh food, and our hearts were filled with joy knowing we ate a nutritious, healthy meal.
Next month the Denver Blogger’s Club will be discussing how to grow your social media presence and blog traffic (our speaker is the extraordinary Jennifer McClellan from Plus Size Mommy Memoirs). It’s another can’t miss event. Register here to attend.
