After reading an article in Gluten Free & More magazine (affiliate link) last month, I came across a recipe for Gluten Free Cranberry & Spinach Dog Biscuits. To be honest, I had never thought about making Buddy a homemade treat before but suddenly I was feeling inspired… or maybe I was just beaten down. Let me explain.
While I might not have given much thought to the dog biscuit recipe in the past, once I showed my 10 year old son the recipe, he was all over me to make these. He talked about it non-stop, relentlessly asking me when we would make the treats. After a few weeks, I finally caved. We made a grocery list, spent an afternoon shopping for ingredients, and set a date to bake. We also ordered these adorable dog biscuit-shaped cookie cutters on Amazon (affiliate link).
I have to admit, the recipe was so much fun to make, and because the recipe is totally gluten free, I didn’t mind making them in my kitchen. The kids loved measuring ingredients, mixing the dough, and cutting the dog biscuits to size. There was so much love oozing into these biscuits, showing me just how much my kids love their Buddy.
After we made the biscuits, my kids assembled baggies full of biscuits (and a copy of the recipe) for all of Buddy’s neighborhood friends. We decided to give them away immediately so they were as fresh as possible. My kids hand delivered several of the treats to neighbors, bursting with excitement as they shared their homemade creations with Buddy’s friends.
While I never tasted this recipe, Buddy says he enjoys them very much :-). The feedback from his dog pals has been positive too. Regardless if they are any good, consider making these treats for your dog this holiday season and show your furry friend just how much you love him!
