We all know gluten-free diets are very in vogue at the moment. It’s frustrating for those of us with Celiac or gluten-sensitivities because we are often lumped into the “diet fad” category, but also it’s a good problem to have as the gluten-free diet trend has boosted the availability of gluten-free products at grocery stores and the number of restaurants offering gluten-free menus and dishes.

The Today Show talked in-depth this morning about the dangers of gluten-free dieting, including the fact that you’ll gain weight if you eat too many processed gluten-free products. Instead of reaching for the gluten-free cookies, stick with naturally gluten-free grains, such as quinoa and brown rice, as well as proteins and fruits and vegetables. Avoid gluten-free cookies and breads in order to maintain a healthy weight (or even lose weight).
