Every good gluten-free girl needs a good gluten-free doughnut once in awhile. I really do miss that little round dough of deliciousness. What a sweet bite it is!
So, for the first time ever, I decided to try making a gluten-free doughnut myself. I have no experience in the category, so I sought a simple, easy and foolproof recipe… and that is what I found in my Betty Crocker Gluten-Free Cooking cookbook (and I also found the Gluten-Free Doughnut Hole recipe online too).
Of course Betty Crocker wants you to use its Bisquick Gluten-Free mix – and I’m like – why not? If it’s going to make me some yummy doughnuts to enjoy, I’ll take the shortcut any which way I can take it!
What’s also great about this gluten-free doughnut recipe is it only requires a few ingredients (most you’ll already have on hand) and is super easy to make.
I really enjoyed these gluten-free doughnut holes and they looked pretty too. They were crisp on the outside and doughy on the inside – and the cinnamon sugar sprinkle on the outer layer gave it just enough sweetness. I will definitely be making these again when I start craving gluten-free doughnuts again. For now, this definitely satisfied my craving.
A couple of side notes: 1) My kids loved them too – and they get to eat real doughnuts from time to time, and 2) they tasted great on Day 2. I just stored them in a zip top bag and they were still moist and yummy.
