This post about 4 beauty trends I’m trying in 2019 is sponsored by Red Apple Lipstick and contains affiliate links. All opinions, however, are my own and I only partner with products I enjoy myself.
Writing about the gluten-free lifestyle has taught me to embrace so many things. I have learned that just as important as what I put in my mouth is what I slather on my lips and entire body. That is why I continually write about the importance of using only safe, gluten-free skincare products when you have celiac disease or a gluten sensitivity.
Like I’ve mentioned in the past, you cannot get glutened unless you ingest gluten, but, if you rub gluten all over your skin, chances are it will somehow make its way into your mouth. It’s a risk I don’t want to take, nor should you.
When I’m looking for safe products to put on my body, I’m looking for products that:
- Make me feel and look great. I know I don’t need to compromise beauty just because I’m gluten-free.
- Carefully sourced ingredients free from toxic chemicals and gluten (of course). Not all gluten-free products are free from harsh chemicals, too. Don’t be fooled!
- Have some versatility. I want products that I can utilize in different ways to achieve different looks.
I always come back to Red Apple Lipstick time and time again because it offers all of these things and more.
If you’re looking to jazz up your look this year (like me), you’ve come to the right place. I’m sharing four on-trend looks using a handful of products from the Red Apple Lipstick cosmetic collection.
I hope you use my makeup experiment to get out of your style rut and into some new, on-trend looks this year and beyond.
Beauty Trend #1: Gloss Up Those Lips
The glossy lip trend is one I can really embrace because I love lipgloss. Maybe it’s because I’m a child of the 80s, but giving me permission to gloss it up just makes me so happy.
On top of that, my lips feel so dull and dry these days. (Read more about dry lips in this article, I Know Why You Have Dry Lips.) The winter blah is a real thing here in Denver. On top of that, I’m getting older and my lips are lacking their usual luster and shine.
A moisturizing lip gloss not only adds shine, but also hydrates my lips, bringing them back to life. All of Red Apple Lipstick’s lipglosses contain Vitamin E (derived from gluten-free sources) that help to punctuate my lips with all the shine and shimmer needed to showcase my new on-trend lustrous lip look.
Beauty Trend #2: Go Pretty in Pink
This is the year to test drive pinks and pastels. While I never thought I could pull off pink because of my skin tone, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved Red Apple Lipstick’s Twinkle Toe’s lipgloss. I now have a newfound love for pink.
While my lips are now pretty in pink, I decided to try a pink blush too, just to see how it looked. I’ve always favored mauve and plum blush colors in the past, but I decided to give Red Apple Lipstick’s Shimmer Gotta Glow blush pink a go. I loved it – truly! It added just the right amount of rosiness to my cheeks and the color lasted all day long.
Beauty Trend #3: Create Drama Around the Eyes
I’ve been seeing a lot of dramatic eyes in the fashion magazines. Women use eyeliner to not only outline their bottom and top lids, but also to extend the lash line into “wings” that extend beyond their lid line. I used my Red Apple Lipstick eyeliner to draw a line past the outer edges of my eye and it was a disaster. Not me. Can’t do it. I’ve simply determined this runway look just ain’t my thing.
That said, I do use black eyeliner to trace the top and bottom lids of my eyes and love the way it looks. My eyes look bigger and my overall look is quite a bit more dramatic.
Red Apple Lipstick’s eyeliner has such a great feel to it, too. It goes on smoothly and just flows along my lash lines with little pressure. I can confidently say that once you try it, you will never go back to using another brand.
Beauty Trend #4: Keeping It Classic
I personally prefer a minimalist approach to makeup (unless I’m getting dressed up for a night out on the town). Less is more for suburban moms like me and a classic, everyday feminine look never goes out of style.
I always keep these “classics” in my makeup kit:
- The Lash Project Mascara – This mascara always goes on easy and stays on all day without flaking. A good, black mascara is a must-have. If you’re sick of clumps and end-of-day flakes, you gotta give The Lash Project Mascara a go. (Watch for a Flash Sale on mascara on February 19th!!)
- Taupe Eyeshadow – A neutral eyeshadow like Bronze Bombshell eyeshadow will give your eyes a touch of definition without adding a lot of noticeable color. I only put eyeshadow on my bottom eyelid, but if you want to be on-trend for 2019, add shadow all the way up to your brow line. I don’t like that look on me, but I know many women who can pull off the look with ease.
- Colorless lip gloss – For a subtle, put together look, try Magic Moment Minty Gluten-Free lip gloss. It’s perfect for a simple glossy look without looking like you’re wearing any makeup.
- A warm blush: Try Dusty Mauve or Gotta Glow to add a hint of color – and life – to your cheeks.
Ready to Look and Feel Great, Too?
While the fashion runways will be full of colorful eye makeup, glittery eyeshadows and metallic lips, I preferred to keep things simple, feminine and always true-to-me. That’s why no matter what the runways and fashion magazines say, I think you always need to choose a look that works best for you. Period.
Take some time to play with different colors and cosmetics that you’ve never tried before. It’s crazy to think I never wore lip color and now I can’t get enough of it. I don’t know why I spent so many years without it! And pink? I never thought I’d love pink lipgloss now that I’m in my 40s and we’re no longer in 1985, but I love the look and have been wearing my Twinkle Toes pink lipgloss since the day I got it.
Remember, you can confidently buy any product offered by Red Apple Lipstick without having to read an ingredient label. Every product is certified gluten-free and free from harsh and unnecessary chemicals, too. Shop online at RedAppleLipstick.com.
